SCHUTZE & Associates, Inc. is an environmental consulting firm founded in 2000 by Jan Schutze in the San Francisco Bay Area. With over 35 years of professional experience in geological and environmental assessment, Mr. Schutze is a California-registered Professional Geologist (PG #5771) and meets the EPA’s definition of an Environmental Professional under the All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI) Rule.

For 25 years, SCHUTZE & Associates, Inc. has provided environmental investigation, testing, and remediation services for clients throughout Northern California. The firm conducts projects under the oversight of regulatory agencies including the Alameda County Environmental Health Department (ACEHD), the San Francisco Bay, Central Coast, and Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Boards, and the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). SCHUTZE & Associates, Inc. has extensive experience with projects involved in the California Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund and Orphan Site Cleanup Fund operated by the State Water Resource Control Board. The company is also certified as a Small, Local, Emerging Business (SLEB) in Alameda County.

Our experience includes environmental assessments (Phase I ESAs, Phase II Investigations, PEAs), vapor intrusion and indoor air quality testing, soil vapor and groundwater monitoring, and the development of cost-effective remediation strategies such as contaminated soil removal and dual-phase extraction (DPE) systems. We also provide UST removal and closure support, hazardous materials testing, SPCC and SWPPP plan development, CERS reporting, and water management planning.
